Winterizing Pool Is Easy

A dip in a swimming pool during the warm months can relieve you from all of your tensions, cooling you and soothing them away in the water. But when the winter arrives or there is no expected near-term usage of the pool, they should be properly winterized. Winter pool safety helps in guarding the pool from any possible damage due to freezing of the water during winters. Not winterizing your pool could result in damage to the filter system and pool plumbing. The pool winterizing also reduces your tasks in the next summer when you want to use the pool again. It is also beneficial in cleaning the pool and its surface.

It is commonly seen that the pools which are not winterized or not properly winterized are likely to result in damage or breakage of the pool equipment. It can also lead to underground damage to the pipes of the pool.

While winterizing pools, keep following things in mind:
  • Make sure you place all the pool equipments such as pool vacuum and plastic items in a dry cool place. This would minimize the wear-and-tear of the equipments.

  • The ladder attached to the pool must be removed, dried off and must be kept in a dry cool place. Parts of ladder such as nuts and bolts must also be removed, dried off and kept with ladder in a dry cool place.

  • Make sure that all the electricity connections leading to the pumps of the pool are a disconnected.

  • There must be proper drainage of all slide lines, cleaning and deck equipments. The pool filter tank and hose pipes must be drained completely.

  • All pool-related chemicals must be kept in dry cool place. Make sure to put a cap on the bottles or boxes containing these chemicals. Do not throw tablets of bromine and chlorine into the swimming pool as they tend to sink into the bottom surface of the pool and thereby cause damage to the pool surface. This can also prove to be harsh to the floating solid covers of the pool.

  • Lubricate the pool equipments and prevent rusting.

  • Make sure that you conduct a final pool water level test and also brush the walls of the swimming pool and vacuum it thoroughly.

Timely pool maintenance and care can help you in keeping your swimming pool clean and almost ready for use in the forthcoming summer. Small steps taken can guard your hard-earned investment in your pool.
