Spa Safety Tips And Precautions
Spas have become very popular and can be found in more and more homes. They can be used for relaxation or rehabilitation after an injury. They may be simple steamy, hot water or they may have a whirlpool or jets. They may be an above ground applicance or built into the ground, perhaps as part of a swimming pool. Though holding a smaller body of water than a regular swimming pool, spas require the same safety precautions to protect you and your family.
Spa safety tips:
- Young children must not be allowed to enter into the spa without the presence of parents or an adult.
- There must be a fence or barrier enclosing the spa.
- People with a past history of diabetes, low or high blood pressure, heart ailments or any major illness must consult their doctor beforehand.
- Ensure hot tub safety. That is the lower maximum temperature of Spa must not exceed 100 degrees to 102 degrees F. For children, the recommended temperature is 95 degrees F.
- The soaking time for adults must not exceed 15 minutes and 10 minutes for children.
- Pregnant women must consult their doctor or gynecologist beforehand as the use of Spa during pregnancy may interfere with a safe pregnancy.
- The latch inside must be kept out of children's reach and the door must be self-closing.
- One must not be under the influence of any kind of drugs, sedatives or alcohol.
- Do not enter the spa if you are feeling drowsiness or sleepiness.
- Always ensure that there is a regular maintenance of spa equipments.
- Ensure that the spa pool is used as per the manufacturer's guidelines and is in conformity with state and local electrical usage guidelines.
- The Spa dry chemicals must be allowed to dissolve one at a time in a clean plastic bucket of clean water. It can then be poured into the hot tub to ensure the prevention of damage to the PVC liner or acrylic shell.
- People who have sores or open wounds must not use the spa.
- There must not be any corded phone, television or any type of electrical device when you are enjoying your Spa. Avoid contact with electrical goods when you are wet and barefoot. Do not place an electrical gadget on the edge of Spa or it could possibly lead to electrocution.
- Do not allow any chair or table near the fence of Spa as children can use that for climbing and entering into the spa. Toys, games and cycles must not be present near the spa as that can induce the child to come near the spa. Children must be educated the most effective ways to use the spa. Glass must not be allowed in the spa area.
