Selecting An In Ground Swimming Pool
If you live in a warm climate, you may have longed for a swimming pool to cool off in and considered installing a pool in your yard. Swimming pools can be classified into two categories, namely, above-ground and in-ground pools. An in ground swimming pool is the type with which we are all most familiar.
Your contractor will locate an appropriate location in your yard that meets your requirements and is clear of all pipes and tree roots. After getting all the permits required, they will excavate the ground to create a hole deep enough to hold your new pool. Framing will then be installed, and then finished with whatever in ground pool type you have chosen.
- Gunite in ground swimming pools: Gunite is sprayed into the frame and can be finished with a plaster finish in any texture. This high end pool allows you to select different colors and textures and can be built in any shape.
- Concrete in ground pools: Concrete is considered to be a popular choice among customers worldwide. They offer limitless options with regard to configuration, shape and spa features and are comparatively cheaper than fiberglass pools. It is not prone to cracking and splitting and can therefore be used in areas where earthquakes are common. They can be constructed as per the specifications of the customer. The concrete is poured into conventional forms of wood.
- Fiberglass in ground pools: They are known for their ability to resist the development of algae and stains. It is not prone to cracking and splitting and can therefore be used in areas where earthquakes are common phenomena. The construction of a fiberglass pool comes with the advantage of low maintenance and cleaning costs. They also consume less electricity than the forms of in-ground swimming pools. They are made up of molded shell from a single fiberglass piece.
- Vinyl liner pool: They are similar to the above-ground pools in visibility but are more conventional when it comes to in-ground designs. These types of pools are not considered to be durable than other forms of in-ground pools and are comparatively cheaper than them. It is generally estimated that the liner used in these pools needs a replacement after every 10 years.
The selection of any of the above types of pools depends upon your preferences, past experiences, maintenance, financial resources and types of home and place to be allocated for pool. But never compromise on your safety. You must take all the necessary precautions as you use your new pool and adhere to the recommended swimming pool safety measures prescribed by common sense as well as the local, health and government authorities.
